5 Things NOT To Do When Creating Amazon Product Videos

ecommerce product videos

If your brand sells on Amazon then you already know the eComm giant is a stickler for rules, especially when it comes to Amazon product videos. When creating new content for your listings the parameters you have to abide by can be a little murky.

Here are 5 things not to do with your Amazon product videos to make sure you’re playing by their rules…

Avoid mentioning guarantees and warranties.

When building a brand you want to make the customer experience as smooth as possible. But Amazon doesn’t want to lead shoppers to think that they’re responsible for product guarantees like “money back”, “returns”, or that the product actually works…

Avoid specific calls to action at the end of your videos.

This one is tricky. You can’t say direct things like “order now” or “get yours today”. But you can use some more ambiguous language around the product like “get this smoothie blender and start living a healthier life today.”

But the biggest “no, no” here is any call to action that leads shoppers off Amazon like “Check out” or “order now at blah blah dot com”. Obviously.

No direct competitor bashing.

Let’s play fair, guys. Avoid showing competing products or logos.

No promotional or time sensitive descriptors.

Avoid phrases like “affordable”, “best selling”, or “hottest of the year”. That goes for price too.

No offensive content or anything that implies your product is used for illicit activity.

So that bong might have to be used as a vase and the brass knuckles as a paper weight. At least, for now.

We’ve worked with hundreds of brands to successfully launch their Amazon product videos. We already know the ins and outs of the platform and how to get products moving with great video. So reach out and connect to see how we can help your brand on Amazon.
